Some of these paintings were done at St. Martin's School of Art in London. Some were done in subsequent years. Three painters, in particular, influenced my work during this period. The childlike spirit of Paul Klee was a constant inspiration as was the innocent magical story telling in the work of Marc Chagall. The early Cubist work of Piet Mondrian in a three year period before the 1st World War had a profound effect on the way I saw things in the later period of my paintings in England.
